The birth of the Order of St. John dates back to around 1048.

In Cité Soleil, an urban slum of Haiti’s capitale Port-au-Prince, Cassius is working in a water committee, raising awareness on water, hygiene and health issues, thus contributing to better living conditions for the local population.

The Chilean Association of the Order of Malta and its humanitarian foundation (Fundación Auxilio Maltés), have organised an operation to provide aid to the affected families and have also sent trucks distributing 1.800 bales of animal feed to the local community.

The Grand Master Fra’ Matthew Festing received the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Sovereign Order of Malta for the traditional audience of the beginning of the new year. The audience took place at the Magistral Villa in Rome.

The embassy of the Order of Malta to the Holy See organised a seminar highlighting the important role Catholic women play in helping migrants and refugees. Amongst the attendees were Sister Eugenia Bonetti, President of the Association “Slaves no More” and Sister Angel Bipendu, a medical volunteer for the Italian Relief Corps of the Order of Malta.

The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) features the Order of Malta’s Holy Family Hospital in Bethlehem, just up the hill from the Church of the Nativity. The hospital serves everyone, especially mothers, their newborn babies, and all children who need special care.
