According to the Constitution, as the religious Superior and Sovereign, he must fully dedicate himself to the development of the works of the Order and to set an example of living by Christian principles, to all the members of the Order.
The Order of Malta is permanently present with medical, social and humanitarian projects in most countries in the world.
The diplomatic relations which the Sovereign Order of Malta enjoys exist to facilitate its humanitarian activities.
The birth of the Order of St. John dates back to around 1048.

On 24 November 2020 in Minsk, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has received the credentials of the Sovereign Order of Malta’s Ambassador Ugo Brachetti Peretti. During the same ceremony the ambassadors of Bangladesh, Israel, Cambodia, China, Namibia, Pakistan presented their credentials to the President.

Ambassador Aimone di Savoia Aosta presented his Credentials to President Vladimir Putin as the Order of Malta’s Representative to the Russian Federation.
By tradition, the ceremony took place in the Alexander Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace.

The newly appointed Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Mauritius, Arnaud de Villeneuve-Esclapon, presented his credentials to the President of Mauritius Prithvirajsing Roopun connected in videoconference by the Mauritius Embassy in Paris. Present at the ceremony was Vijayen Valaydon, Ambassador of the Republic of Mauritius to France.

Dear volunteers of the Order of Malta,
I wanted to express my appreciation and that of the Sovereign Council to all the Order’s members, volunteers, doctors and paramedics who, under our white octagonal cross, have offered solidarity and comfort with even that simplest of gestures: an outstretched hand.
In your eyes I can see the dedication and love with which thousands of members and volunteers in our Grand Priories, National Associations, delegations and Order of Malta’s relief corps worldwide have brought aid and assistance to the sick, to their families, to the isolated elderly, to the poor and to the marginalized.
