Inauguration of a children’s home and playground
Within the framework of the post-tsunami reconstruction projects, a children’s home and playground have been recently inaugurated in the village of Kosgoda on the west coast of Sri Lanka.
Thanks to the commitment of the Order of Malta’s International Relief Corps, a kindergarten, a university, a health centre, another children’s home, a refectory and fifty new houses for families who lost everything in the tsunami have been built in this village since 2005.
A training centre has also been started up in which young people can learn to be chefs, carpenters, mechanics, electricians and tailors. To date, some 100 youths have completed their vocational training courses and many of them have found work.
