Afghanistan: health centres and schools for the badghis province
06/11/2003

On behalf of the Afghan Interim Government, the Order of Malta German Emergency Corps (Malteser) has expanded its activities in the Badghis province in Western Afghanistan, where the team runs the only hospital and up to ten health centres in four districts of the province.

Malteser is training the local staff, administering their salaries, providing medicines and equipment for the health centres already rehabilitated, and is building more. Malteser is also building 20 new primary schools in five districts – a continuation of their programme of successful emergency aid and rehabilitation projects in Afghanistan.
