Order of Malta Ambassadors meet UN Secretary General

The Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the United Nations in New York, Paul Beresford-Hill, and the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Palestine, Michele Bowe, met UN General Secretary, António Guterres, yesterday Monday 8 April at the UN headquarters.

During the meeting the celebratory events which are being organized in Autumn to mark the 30th Anniversary of the invitation of the General Assembly for the Order of Malta to join the United Nations as a Permanent Observer were discussed.

During the meeting, Ambassador Bowe gave an overview of the Order’s current operations in Palestine and the West Bank where the Order of Malta runs the Holy Family maternity Hospital delivering over 4.600 babies each year. The humanitarian action in Ukraine, with regards in particular to the work of Malteser International and the Order of Malta Priories and Associations in neighbouring countries, was also discussed.
