Malteser International once again offers a first-aid service in Medjugorje, running from June until November, with a team made up of local doctors and nurses, and volunteers from Malteser Germany.

Medjugorje is a pilgrimage site, made famous since 1981 when the Blessed Virgin appeared there. It is believed that the apparitions continue and the little village is inundated with visitors each summer.

Last year, 4,117 patients from 44 different countries were assisted by the Malteser International first-aid team on the spot.
