Grand Master Fra’ Matthew Festing received the Cardinal Patronus of the Order, Pio Laghi, Cardinals members of the Order, together with members of the Secretary of State of the Holy See in the church of Santa Maria dell’Aventino for a celebration of Vespers. After the moving ceremony, Fra’ Matthew Festing hosted a reception for Their Eminences in the Magistral Villa.

The birth of the Order of St. John dates back to around 1048. It was under the leadership of Blessed Fra’ Gerard, founder and first Master, that the religious community became a lay religious order.
