Memorandum signed with Georgia Government
29/10/2018

Tbilisi, 22nd October 2018: in the prime minister’s residence a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the government of Georgia and the Sovereign Order of Malta for natural disaster prevention, organization and response as well as emergency medical aid.

Providing first-aid training for volunteers, defining emergency procedures and increasing voluntary work in a country with which the Order has had diplomatic relations for twenty years: these are the main items in the memorandum signed by the Head of the Georgia Emergency Management Service, Shalva Khutsishvili, and Ambassador Marcello Celestini for the Sovereign Order of Malta.

Visit of Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States

During his visit to Georgia, Msgr. Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States, was received by Ambassador Marcello Celestini in the homeless shelter managed by the embassy in the Catholic Church of St. Mary of the Assumption in Tbilisi.
The shelter offers 10 beds and was inaugurated on 30 May last. Over the last few weeks the night temperature has fallen to just above zero which means the shelter is now operating at full capacity.
