Fra’ Matthew Festing wrote to François Hollande, president of France, to express condolences for the tragedy on July 14, 2016 in Nice, France.

In his letter of condolence, Fra’ Matthew Festing expressed his deepest sympathies for the tragic events which occurred last week.

“At a time when your country, on its national holiday, is hit again by a savage act of terrorism whose horror knows no limits, I express my closeness and that of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the French people. We join the mourning of the innocent victims of a criminal act, that the whole world condemns.”
