– Cape Verde, H.E. Eurico CORREIA MONTEIRO.
According to the Constitution, as the religious Superior and Sovereign, he must fully dedicate himself to the development of the works of the Order and to set an example of living by Christian principles, to all the members of the Order.
The Order of Malta is permanently present with medical, social and humanitarian projects in most countries in the world.
The diplomatic relations which the Sovereign Order of Malta enjoys exist to facilitate its humanitarian activities.
The birth of the Order of St. John dates back to around 1048.

The Lieutenant of Grand Master Fra' John Dunlap, together with members of the newly elected Sovereign Council and the participants in the Extraordinary Chapter General, were received this morning in audience by His Holiness Pope Francis.
The Extraordinary Chapter General, presided over by the Lieutenant of the Grand Master Fra' John Dunlap, elected all the members of the Sovereign Council, who will remain in office for six years.
Presided over by the Lieutenant of the Grand Master Fra' John Dunlap and Cardinal Silvano Maria Tomasi, Special Delegate of the Pope, the Extraordinary Chapter General of the Sovereign Order of Malta is underway near Rome.
