The Sovereign Order of Malta is one of the oldest institutions of Western and Christian civilisation.
According to the Constitution, as the religious Superior and Sovereign, he must fully dedicate himself to the development of the works of the Order and to set an example of living by Christian principles, to all the members of the Order.
The Order of Malta is permanently present with medical, social and humanitarian projects in most countries in the world.
The diplomatic relations which the Sovereign Order of Malta enjoys exist to facilitate its humanitarian activities.
The birth of the Order of St. John dates back to around 1048.
The Lieutenant of the Grand Master, Fra’ John T. Dunlap, received in audience in the Magistral Villa for the presentation of their Letters of Credence, the new Ambassadors of:
– Poland, H.E. Adam Mariusz KWIATKOWSKI
– Chile, H.E. Patricia Jacqueline ARAYA GUTIÉRREZ
– Thailand, H.E. Rommanee KANANURAK
– Ukraine, H.E. Andrii YURASH
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati had talks at the Magistral Palace with the Grand Chancellor of the Order of Malta, Riccardo Paternò. After the meeting, the Prime Minister was received by the Lieutenant of the Grand Master.
The war in Ukraine and humanitarian interventions, assistance after the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, rescue operations in the Mediterranean Sea. Not to mention regular projects such as hospitals, mobile clinics and volunteer corps. These were some of the topics discussed during the meeting between the over fifty Deputy Chiefs of Mission of the embassies accredited to the Sovereign Order of Malta and the Order’s representatives.
On Sunday 5 March a fire broke out in Bangladesh in the world’s largest refugee camp, near the city of Cox’ Bazar. Around 2,000 shelters have been destroyed and nearly 12,000 people lost their home.
