The Sovereign Order of Malta is one of the oldest institutions of Western and Christian civilisation.
According to the Constitution, as the religious Superior and Sovereign, he must fully dedicate himself to the development of the works of the Order and to set an example of living by Christian principles, to all the members of the Order of Malta.
The Order of Malta is permanently present with medical, social and humanitarian projects in most countries in the world.
The Sovereign Order of Malta’s diplomatic relations facilitate its medical and humanitarian activities.
The birth of the Order of St. John dates back to around 1048. It was under the leadership of Blessed Fra’ Gerard, founder and first Master, that the religious community became a lay religious order.
The Prince and Grand Master of the Sovereign Order of Malta, Fra’ Andrew Bertie received in separate audiences, for the presentation of their Letters of Credence, the new Ambassadors of:
– Venezuela, Ivan Guillermo Rincón Urdaneta, on 20 November 2006;
– Bulgaria, Valentin Vasilev Bozhilov, on 21 November 2006;
– Spain, Francisco Vázquez y Vázquez, on 27 November 2006;
– Austria, Martin Bolldorf, 27 November 2006.
The President of Hungary Tamás Sulyok was received today at the Magistral Palace by the Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Fra’ John Dunlap.
Fra' John Dunlap, Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta bestowed the insignia of Grand Cross with Swords pro Merito Melitensi on Guido Crosetto, Minister of Defence of the Italian Republic.
On Saturday 20 April, Fra' John Dunlap conferred the insignia of Bailiff Grand Cross of Honour and Devotion on Cardinal Christophe Louis Yves Georges Pierre.
