The Secretary General for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Stefano Ronca, received an international group of migrations experts today in the Magistral Villa for a meeting in which the Order of Malta illustrated its main humanitarian activities worldwide. “The Central Mediterranean Route: Challenges, Trends and Perspectives” is the title of the seminar coordinated by the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation involving various appointments. This morning’s visit is part of a full programme of meetings with both Italian and European institutions, as well as international bodies.

Recently, the group of experts – consisting of representatives of European institutions, the European Union and international academics – had met in Tunis to talk about the Libyan situation. Libya was also one of the main topics of the meeting this morning. The Order of Malta illustrated the goals of the working group, made up of representatives of the Libyan authorities and international institutions, set up in 2015 together with a British thinktank to tackle the serious humanitarian crisis afflicting the country.
