Signing ceremony takes place at the Magistral Palace

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Grenada, Clarice Modeste-Curwen, was received at the Magistral Palace in Rome on 6th November by the Grand Chancellor of the Sovereign Order of Malta, Albrecht Boeselager.

During the meeting topics including climate change, which has a significant impact on development across the island, and the role of Grenada in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), were discussed. Potential areas of cooperation were also raised.

At the end of the meeting during a brief ceremony the Grand Chancellor and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, expressing their desire to promote and strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Grenada and the Sovereign Order of Malta in the medical and humanitarian fields, signed a joint communique establishing diplomatic relations.

With the addition of Grenada, the number of states with which the Sovereign Order of Malta has bilateral diplomatic relations rises to 106. Of these, 26 are with countries on the American continents.
