The latest edition of the Order of Malta’s Rescue Manoeuvres took place in Maramureș, Romania between 16 and 19 October 2025, bringing together twelve rescue teams from across Europe. The event focused on operational cooperation, training, and knowledge exchange among participants committed to the shared goal of saving lives.
Teams from the Order of Malta’s Relief Corps in Germany, Ireland, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Ukraine joined Romanian public emergency services.
Organized by volunteers from the Baia Mare Branch of the Order’s Relief Corps in Romania, Serviciul de Ajutor Maltez în România , the competition featured a series of rescue scenarios designed to test coordination, communication and response efficiency under realistic conditions.
The growing number of countries involved reinforced the value of international cooperation within the Order of Malta network, where teams exchange experience to enhance collective preparedness and response capacity.
The Order of Malta Rescue Manoeuvres are part of a series of international training exercises first established in Poland to promote cooperation and exchange among the Order’s Relief Corps. The initiative aims to strengthen interoperability and the ability to respond to international crises through the Order and with national counterparts. The importance of such joint training remains a topic of discussion at the International Hospitallers’ Conferences, with further exercises planned in the near future.
