Over 4000 lives saved in Milot

With the highest rates of poverty and mother and child mortality in Latin America, Haiti finds support in Milot for its many needy through the Order of Malta’s three American Associations, which support the CRUDEM Foundation there, and its vital ‘Sacré Coeur’ hospital in Milot. With a nutritional centre linked to the hospital, 4,000 young lives are saved every year. In 2007, the hospital and centre carried out over 56,000 medical examinations, admitted 4,000 patients, carried out 72,000 laboratory tests, and delivered 1,300 babies. The American Associations have been involved with this project for many years, and in addition to sending funding support, they provide volunteer doctors from the States, who visit the centre regularly to assist patient.
