The Order of Malta will be working in the centres of Lille, Metz and Geispolsheim, near Strasbourg. This appointment follows a competition announced by the French Ministry of Immigration, Integration, National Identity and Co-Development.

The Order of Malta’s French Association, backed by its long experience in providing support, welfare services and legal aid to immigrants, presented a project detailing the procedures for collecting information on these people and their subsequent administrative and legal efforts to have their rights respected. The French Association also stressed the importance of the human, family and social aspects underpinning the service for those whose application for asylum has been rejected.

This mission is part of both the Order of Malta’s centuries-old vocation and its current commitments with regards to those in emergency situations, whether they be the sick, the disadvantaged or immigrants.
