On 8th January 2018, in the official residence of the President of the German Federal Republic, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Maciej Heydel presented his credentials as the first ambassador of the Order of  Malta in Germany. This act, following the establishment of diplomatic relations in November 2017, marks a new phase in the already excellent relations between the German Federal Republic and the Order.
