Thanks to new funds, the Order of Malta’s Emergency Corps can continue its bird flue prevention campaign in the Mae La Oon and Mae Luang Ra refugee camps.
The project, running up to September 2009, aims to reduce the risk of bird flu infection in the two refugee camps on the Thailand-Myanmar border in which Malteser International provides medical services.
The main measures involved are:
a) monitoring and correct supervision of domestic poultry
b) monitoring of patients with influenza symptoms
c) providing information on prevention and the correct treatment of suspect and confirmed cases.
