Miss Cambodia winners join the Leprosy Awareness Campaign

To promote knowledge about the illness and remove the stigma: this is the purpose of the awareness day on Hansen’s disease, commonly known as leprosy, organized by the Ciomal Foundation (Order of Malta International Campaign against Leprosy) on 10 July last in the Kien Khlang rehabilitation centre, in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh.

Aquarius Migrants, Order of Malta’s Medical Team on Dattilo: “In their eyes the hope for a better future”

Yesterday morning, Maria Rita Agliozzo and Marika Giustiniani, health professionals with the Order of Malta’s Italian Relief Corps, disembarked from the ship Dattilo in the port of Valencia. Last Tuesday they had embarked on the Coast Guard ship in Pozzallo to assist the 629 migrants arriving from the Libyan coast and saved at sea by the search and rescue operations of the SOS Méditerranée.

A medical team of the Order of Malta’s Italian Relief Corps has just now boarded the Coast Guard ship Dattilo to assist those migrants who will shortly be transferred from the Acquarius vessel.

2018 marks 42 years of service of the Order of Malta’s Portuguese volunteer Corps to the pilgrims travelling on foot towards the Shrine of Fatima, in Portugal. This year the pilgrimage started on 6 May and will finish on 12 May.

World Leprosy Day: French volunteers take to the streets. 650,000 euro raised in 2017

Every two minutes a new case of leprosy is diagnosed in some part of the world. Contrary to common belief, Hansen’s Disease – the bacterial infection generally called leprosy – is present in 140 countries and continues to infect people, especially in some areas such as Asia and Africa, where half the world’s cases are recorded.
